URC partners with Sparrows Nest, a ministry of Lansing Christian Services.
Making Homeless Moms Homeowners…A Four Part Strategy:
• Surrounding the family with the ongoing support of
a trained church ministry team.
• Providing structured training and mentoring in life
skills like goal setting, decision making, budgeting,
and parenting.
• Encouraging accountability by working to help the
Sparrow’s Nest family meet the goals that they
have set for themselves.
• Offering the opportunity to successfully complete
the Sparrow’s Nest program and earn a home they
can afford to own.

What you can do with us:
* Pray for the Sparrow’s Nest ministry
* Provide funds toward the purchase of a mobile home or to meet ministry expenses
* Assemble a trained Church Ministry Team to come alongside a Sparrow’s Nest family
* Volunteer as a budget counselor in the Quality Living Budget program
* Become a friend and mentor for a mom in an area of your own expertise such as parenting, computer help, gardening; study skills, job seeking, etc.
* Work as part of a team to manage initial home repairs to make a home ready for move-in
* Help a family move into their new home
* Provide practical help with ongoing maintenance and repairs or special home projects
* Become a child’s Secret Angel
* Be a special friend and mentor to a child; this could include help with school work, field trips, shared projects, and more
* Connect families with other support services that will help them be successful
