Women’s Ministry
Women’s Ministry at URC is a place for women of all ages to connect and grow in their faith, so that they may be further equipped to minister to their families, their church, and their community.

We want to increase knowledge in sound biblical doctrine.
There are several Bible studies and book studies offered throughout the year. We encourage you to find one that works for your schedule. If you have a study you would like added to this list or need more information please contact Katie Young.
• There is a doctrine study that meets Wednesday mornings during the school year. Registration is now closed for the spring semester, but stay tuned this summer for details on how to sign up for the fall.
• There will be a Women’s Bible study at URC this summer on Wednesday evenings starting June 12th at 7 pm. We will be doing Peacemaker Ministries Women’s Study: Living the Gospel in Relationships. This is an 8 week DVD-based study on relationships, biblical peacemaking, and the hope of the gospel. Please contact Katie Young (youngkpa79@gmail.com) to sign up.
•SAVE THE DATE: October 25-26 (Fri-Sat), Tara Barthel from Peacemaker Ministries will be coming to speak to the women of URC on Peacemaking for Women. Mark it on your calendars! More information to come later this summer.
• Go here to see some of the small group Bible studies offered for women of various ages throughout the year and be sure to watch the bulletin for other studies not listed on the web.
We want to cultivate Titus 2 relationships.
We acknowledge and celebrate the fact that many of these relationships already exist informally within the church. We are seeking to build upon this and offer more opportunities for older and younger women to connect with and learn from one another. To begin this, many women read Spiritual Mothering by Susan Hunt this past fall and attended a Mentoring Training Workshop this past January to discuss practical steps in mentoring. If you would like the notes from the workshop, contact Jackie Knapp (jackie@urc-msu.org). We want to continue to offer further training in this area in the future.
We are encouraging women to seek out natural relationships and begin or continue mentoring in these relationships. However, we want to help make these connections as well, especially for women who are newer to URC. If you are interested in being matched with an older or younger woman in a mentoring relationship or need resources or advice about mentoring, please contact Carole McAlvey.
We want to promote multi-generational fellowship and enfolding of all women.
No matter your age or stage in life, whether you’ve been at URC a few months or many years, there’s a place for you.
• Do you have an idea for a fellowship event (big or small) that you’d like to see happen? Contact Christy Duffy or Greta Lankheet.
If you have any questions regarding Women’s Ministry at URC, please do not hesitate to contact any of the members of the Women’s Ministry leadership team: Christy Duffy, Jackie Knapp, Greta Lankheet, Carole McAlvey, Sherre Whalon, or Katie Young.
We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD,
His power, and the wonders He has done…
so that the next generation would know them,
even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children.
Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget His deeds
but would keep His commands. Psalm 78:4, 6-7
