Conversation with Kevin Phipps
Get to know Kevin Phipps, URC’s new Assistant Pastor better through this conversational interview between him and Pastor Jason.
Counseling Training Classes
Theology and Practice: Meets every Saturday morning from 9-11 and covers biblical counseling model and methods e.g. understanding: people and their issues, what’s most deeply wrong with us, how the gospel speaks to all of life , and a biblical change process; understanding and practicing: how we care for and help people change. This class is open to all and would be helpful for all those who counsel, disciple, mentor, lead growth groups, teach, and do evangelism; as well as those who would like to be lay counselors at URC. The class begins October 6 and runs through February.
Issues and Observations: Meets every Friday afternoon from 4-6 and covers specific counseling issues (e.g. helping hurting people, depression and anxiety, anger and conflict, gender and sexuality, grief and hope, guilt and shame) and provides opportunities for peer counseling, observations, and feedback. This class is open to all who have had previous counseling training (including URC Theology and Practice) and/or experience. This class begins October 5 and runs through May.
To sign up for either of these classes, contact Pat Quinn by email, phone (351-6810 ext. 217) or in person.
