Missions Weekend 2023

April 10, 2023 by Webmaster Leave a Comment

Speaking to Peter our Lord gave us this wonderful promise, “…I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matt. 16:18).

We invite you to join us for this FREE event.

Join us Saturday, April 22 (9:00am-noon) and Sunday, April 23 (regular morning & evening worship services) as we see glimpses of the Lord’s work to build his church all over the world.

  • Rev. Sherif Fahim will speak on the church in Egypt and the middle east;
  • Dr. Bruce Baugus will share about the work of theological education for pastors in China;
  • MRN will share about the work that is ongoing in Malawi;
  • One of our own URC missionaries will speak about the Lord’s work in South Asia.

The Church in Egypt with Rev. Sherif Fahim

Sherif Fahim is a doctoral student in Biblical Studies at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. His research at PRTS focuses on Romans 6 and the relation between justification and sanctification in the book of Romans.

Sherif holds a B.Th. from Alexandria School of Theology, Alexandria, Egypt; an MAR in Biblical Studies from Moore Theological College, Sydney, Australia; and a Th.M. in Systematic Theology from Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary, Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. He joined the faculty at Alexandria School of Theology in 2009 where he currently teaches the Book of Romans, Christology, Eschatology, the Reformed Confessions and Theology of the Pentateuch. He also serves as an elder in Sidi Beshr Kebly Presbyterian church, in Alexandria since 2012. He also holds a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Alexandria University.

Sherif lives in Alexandria, Egypt where he grew up, and is married to Marian. They have three daughters, Sophia, Nelly and Naomi

The Church in China with Dr. Bruce Baugus

Dr. Bruce P. Baugus has a PhD in Philosophical Theology from Calvin Theological Seminary (2009) and served on the faculty of Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi, for fourteen years (2008–2022) prior to joining Puritan Reformed. He is a Teaching Elder in the Presbyterian Church in America, has served as a pastor, and continues to preach regularly and serve on various committees of Presbytery and General Assembly. Dr. Baugus frequently teaches in other countries and serves on the board of two organizations focused on the global development of Reformed theological education. He is the author of The Historical Roots of Reformed Moral Theology (RHB, 2022), the editor of China’s Reforming Churches (RHB, 2014), and has contributed numerous chapters, articles, and papers.

Dr. Baugus and his wife Tricia have two sons, one daughter-in-law, and one granddaughter.

The Church in Malawi with the Malawi Reformation Network

Our Malawi team will present an update from their recent trip and present the vision for MRN’s partnership with URC as we continue to train pastoral residents and send them back to Malawi to plant churches.

The Church in South Asia with a URC Missionary

What does it take to move to the other end of the world, where you need to sleep with bug nets at night, where heat and humidity leaves you constantly soaked in sweat, where the jungle-like forest meets urban life, and where there are only a handful of Christians and churches? We are excited to welcome back one of our missionaries as we hear about the struggles and blessings of missionary life in a closed country.
